Department: Service
Reports to: Service Coordinator

Purpose:
Assist the service coordinator in maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the service department’s operation within the dealership.

Responsibilities:

o Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department
o Closes and invoices ag work orders as directed by the Service Manager/Service Coordinator and maintains control until they are
closed and invoiced
o Tracks PIP completion
o Processes parts returns, including any needed follow-up
o Maintains the service library with current information (for example, files bulletins, manuals, multi-media, etc.) under the direct
supervision of the Service Coordinator
o Maintains Service Department filing and records
o Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work orders
o Submits, tracks, and closes all Deere and non-Deere warranty claims
o Maintains accessories and supplies and prepares replacement orders
o May prepare Service Technician efficiency reports

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
o Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
o Knowledge of office procedures
o General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred
o High School Diploma or equivalent experience
o High level of communication skills; both verbal and written
o High level of organization and attention to details
o Deadline sensitive

o Performs advanced diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established AMS products
o Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
o Mentors Service Technician Trainees
o Conducts or supports customer clinics
o Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
o Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment
o Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
o Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
o Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
o Accounts for all time and all material used in performing assigned duties
o May perform diagnosis and repair in the field

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

o Ability to perform advanced repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
o Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
o Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
o Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions
o Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
o Advanced Service Technician certification preferred
o High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
o Valid driver’s license required; CDL (Commercial Drivers License) and fork lift license preferred
